I’m reading a book call “Failing Forward” by John C. Maxwell. In chapter 1 of this book, author has shared about “what’s the main difference between people who achieve and people who are average?” After read the chapter 1, I have some deep thought on “Failure” this word.
Failure is proceed we will go thru in our life, it may be career, study, family, relationship, mistakes etc. But, how many will learn overcome it? How many are you willing to look at failure differently? Are you surrendering to failure without give yourself a try? Perhaps, some people have misunderstood failure, fear failure or keep blame others cause failure. Failure can be happen anytime despite you are rich or poor. Failures train us to be courage person. After once or twice or more failure we faced, less mistakes we have make. I think I would to share “failure is best training for success”, “失败乃成功之母”. I believe there are many successful example how to overcome the failure, are we humble ourselves to ask and learn from them?
In this chapter, author had shared this question,” if your perception of and response to failure were changed, what would you attempt to achieve?” In our life, we have potential to overcome any problems or mistakes. We should learn keep walking. "God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Cor. 10:13)
In the end of this chapter, author had describes the way we approach to failure, here you go,
Failing Backward
- Blaming others
- Repeating the same mistakes
- Expecting never to fail again
- Expecting to continually fail
- Accepting tradition blindly
- Being limited by past mistakes
- Thinking I am a Failure
- Quitting
Failing Forward
- Taking responsibility
- Learning from each mistake
- Knowing failure is a part of progress
- Maintaining a positive attitude
- Challenging outdated assumptions
- Taking new risks
- Believing something didn’t work
- Persevering
We cannot change failure but we change our attitude toward failure unless we willing to do so :)
