I was attended the HopeSem's seminar, "Help in Distressed Times" with my cg member on last monday morning. I had benefit alot and also gain more knowledge about emotional distress and stress management. We can experience both positive and negative emotions but the emotions themselves are not polarized. However, emotions are not necessary be bad but it is how we manage them that matters. Therefore, we need to understanding and recognising the basic emotions at their increasing levels of detail that are being exprienced allows us to respond approriately such as love, joy, surprise, anger, sadness and fear. A question for you all, what are you do when you stress out?

I had learned two techniques that help the body relax when feel distress, there are deep-breathing relaxtion technique and muscle relaxation technique. Eg. When you feel anger, you can take try do 10 minute deep-breathing relaxtion technique. You will feel more better after doing it. However, we also need to identify the thing that cause us stress.

Stress can be healthy if managed correctly such as:
~ prayer (Be honest to God about your feeling)
~ journal keeping (write down your thoughts)
~ talk with your shepherd or other mentors
~ excercise etc.

Stress also can create hosts of negative emotions and behaviours such as:
~ poor diet choices
~ depression
~ displacement (source of frustration or hurt is not communicated and express to the original source but taken out on others)
~ substance use/abuse
~ unhealthy relationships etc.

Overall, managing stress may require expanding definitions of sucess and self-worth, learning time management skills, recognising triggers and changing one's physical routine.

Psalm 20:1 (NIV) "May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you."

Deuteronomy 31:6 (The Message) "Be strong. Take courage. Don't be intimidated. Don't give them a second thought because GOD, your God, is striding ahead of you. He's right there with you. He won't let you down; he won't leave you."
